Consultation FAQ's

Do I need any follow-up consultations?

The need for a follow-up consultation depends on the success of your treatment. If the treatment progresses well then simple email follow-up may be sufficient. If any serious changes are required, another consultation will need to be scheduled.

Do you require a medical record for certification?

Medical records are helpful for influencing the dosing recommendations. However, they are not necessary. Physicians will work with as much or as little information as you provide. Providing medical documentation will result in more informed recommendations.

Does Calla Spring Wellness offer consultations worldwide?

Yes. Consultations are provided over phone or Skype to anywhere in the world. A California Prop. 215 recommendation is not required for consultations.

Does Calla Spring Wellness provide medical cannabis recommendations?

Calla Spring Wellness does not provide medical cannabis recommendations because it would impair the quality of our primary services. Thankfully, there are thousands of physicians throughout California who can, including your primary care physician.

How does Calla Spring Wellness monitor and check for possible pharmaceutical or supplement interactions?

Physicians check every pharmaceutical and supplement to see if they interact with cannabis. If so, it is generally recommended to separate these medicines by at least two hours from cannabis to prevent interference.

How will Calla Spring Wellness help me learn to use medical cannabis?

The physician you speak with will provide detailed information about exactly how much and what types of medical cannabis to use. This includes the precise amount of the two major cannabinoids, THC and CBD, to take. The physician also creates a dosing schedule so you know exactly when throughout the day to use your cannabis medicines.

What can I expect during my first Calla Spring Wellness consultation?

You can expect to speak for up to an hour with a qualified physician who will answer any questions you have related to your medical cannabis treatment. They will also bring up important concerns that you may not have thought about. The outcome is specific dosing information as well as comprehensive nutritional and supplement advice.

What credentials do the physicians of Calla Spring Wellness have?

They are medical doctors (MDs) with decades of experience in natural health. They are also members of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians (SCC), the largest organization in the United States representing physicians working with cannabis. Credentials of specific physicians can be located here.

What is decarboxylation?

In the raw cannabis plant, the cannabinoids are found in their acidic forms – THC acid (THCA) and CBD acid (CBDA). Heat is required to transform these acidic cannabinoids into their neutral counterparts, THC and CBD, a process known as decarboxylation. However, heat also results in terpene loss. Through extensive experimentation, we have found a way to decarboxylate the cannabinoids while preserving terpenes.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are a class of aromatic compounds produced by cannabis. Unlike cannabinoids, which are only found in cannabis, terpenes are found in thousands of other plants. Most of what you smell from flowers or as well as many plant foods are terpenes. For example, a terpene called limonene is found in lemons and can stimulate energy, and the primary terpene in lavender, linalool, has a calming effect.
